Rotterdam is the biggest city in Netherlands and has the largest port in the World, Eurooport in deep-sea. Most part of the city was destroyed during the World War II, consequence of that they have all kind of strange modern buildings.
As in all Netherlands they have bike lanes everywhere with their own traffic lights. You must be really aware of them when you are walking, the bikes here are the queens.
As historic harbor city they have immigrants from all around the world, with the consequence problems of poverty (in Dutch terms), racism, etc... but with the atmosphere of a city plenty of live. You can eat all kinds of food and see very different ways of live just next door.
